Take Control — Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Take Control browser extension only. It does not cover the winwinmedia.net website, which has its own privacy policy.
The short version
Take Control does not collect, transmit, sell or share any user data. There is no account, no server and no analytics. Everything the extension stores stays on your own computer, and stops existing when you uninstall it.
What the extension stores, and where
All of the following is written to chrome.storage.local, which is storage on your own device. None of it leaves your machine.
Your settings. Which blocklist categories are switched on, the domains you typed in yourself, the difficulty of the unlock gate, and how long access lasts once you pass it.
Your pictures. Images you choose to add to the screensaver. They are downscaled inside your browser and stored on your device. They are never uploaded anywhere.
Temporary access grants. A timestamp per site, recording that you passed its gate and may browse it for a few minutes.
What the extension does not do
- It does not send your browsing history, the URLs you visit, or any other data to us or to anyone else.
- It makes no network requests of any kind. The blocklists it checks against are bundled inside the extension itself.
- It does not read the content of the pages you visit, and injects no scripts into them.
- It has no account, no login, and no cloud sync.
- It contains no advertising, tracking pixels, or analytics of any kind.
Why it asks for broad site access
Chrome requires the extension to declare access to all sites, because you may choose to block any site. When you navigate somewhere, the extension compares that address against your blocklist on your own device and, if it matches, redirects the tab to its gate page. That comparison happens entirely locally. The address is not logged, stored or transmitted.
Deleting your data
Removing a picture in the extension's options page deletes it immediately. Uninstalling the extension deletes everything it stored — settings, pictures and grants — because it all lives in the extension's own local storage. There is nothing held on our side to request the deletion of.
Children's privacy
The extension collects no personal data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date. If a future version of the extension ever collects data, this policy will say so before that version ships.
